Residence Inn by Marriott Announced for Berkeley County’s Nexton Community
SUMMERVILLE, SC – Southeastern Development Associates today announced the purchase of land in Nexton, a master planed community being developed by WestRock Land and Development, for the construction of a Residence Inn by Marriott. This move brings the second Marriott property to the Summerville part of Berkeley County in less than two years. Construction on the hotel is expected to begin in June 2016, with a target opening in the summer of 2017.
The 96 room, all-suite hotel, developed by Augusta-based Southeastern Development Associates is designed with the extended stay traveler in mind. The property features an inviting outdoor environment with a pool, fire pit and sport court. Indoors guests can enjoy the custom designed lobby, meeting space, and fully equipped fitness center. Each suite is fully equipped with a kitchen with full sized refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Nexton’s GigiFi gigabit internet service is available in every room.
Nexton’s bustling commercial center is currently home to the South Carolina Research Authority, WestRock Land & Development, Palmetto Primary Care, The Parks Apartments, Carolina Ale House, and others. The new Residence Inn will be located immediately adjacent to the planned Nexton Square, a center of shopping and dining.
Strategically located just northwest of historic Charleston at the junction of I-26 and Highway 17A in Berkeley County, Nexton lies within the Lowcountry’s corridor of growth. Just a short distance from Charleston International Airport and Charleston Harbor, access to Nexton will be further enhanced when a second interchange on I-26 opens in 2018.
