Blackbaud Expanding Berkeley County Operations

Software and services leader to build new world headquarters, create 300 new jobs

DANIEL ISLAND, SC – Blackbaud, the leading provider of software and services for the global philanthropic community, is expanding its existing world headquarters operations in Berkeley County. The project is expected to create 300 new jobs over the next five years.

Founded in 1981, Blackbaud serves the nonprofit, charitable giving, corporate social responsibility and education communities. The company offers a full spectrum of cloud and on-premise solutions, as well as a resource network that empowers and connects organizations of all sizes. Using Blackbaud technology, these organizations raise, invest, manage and award more than $100 billion each year. With approximately 35,000 customers in 60 countries, Blackbaud operates facilities in the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

In an effort to expand its already robust corporate headquarters in Berkeley County, Blackbaud is moving into a larger estimated 360,000-square-foot facility on Daniel Island. Expected to be completed in phases, phase one of the new facility will be located at the intersection of Fairchild Street and Central Island Street, while phase two will be located at the intersection of River Landing Drive and Fairchild Street.

With construction of phase one anticipated for completion in 2018, Blackbaud is actively recruiting new staff and expects new positions to be added as the project progresses. In congratulating Blackbaud on the expansion, Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler gave the following remarks:

“What a day for Blackbaud! What a day for Berkeley County! What a day for South Carolina!

It is an honor to be on the stage today to represent Berkeley County and to celebrate one of our best corporate citizens, Blackbaud.

Michael, Jon, Rachel, and all of the Blackbaud team here today – congratulations from Berkeley County Government and thank you for your continued trust in our county and for continued commitment to grow and create jobs here.

Michael, your incredible investment with this expansion is not only a sign of the faith you have in your business but also a sign of faith you have in your incredible people, many of whom are Daniel Island, Berkeley County residents.

I would also like to think this expansion is a sign of faith you have in Berkeley County, as we have worked with your team over the past year to ensure this day became a reality and that you will take today as further proof that our county government will continue to support Blackbaud every way we can.

We, as a county, are extremely grateful for this investment and the hundreds of jobs it will create…

And, I am personally grateful for this investment and the 300 jobs because, with them, I can now say Berkeley County has announced over $1 billion in new economic development projects and over 4,000 new jobs since I took office less than 18 months ago.

It is from investments like Blackbaud’s that I can continue to use my motto for the county of: Berkeley County is open for business, and Berkeley County means business.

Michael, Jon, Rachel and the entire Blackbaud team – congratulations again and thank you for your trust in our county and our people to continue to grow here.”
