Local Construction Subcontractor Outreach Event Set for Volvo Factory in Berkeley County
MONCKS CORNER, SC – The South Carolina Department of Commerce, Berkeley County Government and Trident Technical College will be hosting a construction subcontractor outreach event for the Volvo Cars factory construction project on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00PM.
Taking place at Trident Technical College’s Building 920, 7000 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston – the outreach event will allow attendees to gain information about the Volvo Cars construction project in Berkeley County, learn about current and upcoming bid packages, receive instructions on contractor pre-qualification forms and meet the construction management team.
Volvo Cars announced the $500 million vehicle manufacturing facility in May 2015. With the capacity to build up to 100,000 cars per year and create up to 2,000 direct new jobs over the next decade, the factory is expected to be fully operational before the end of 2018. The construction project is being managed overall by Yates Construction with Gray Construction managing construction of the paint shop; both will attend the March 30th event to present their roles in the project.
